Today -- December 15, 2023, is the last day Pasta Bene is open for business. My wife and I stopped by two days ago for one last dinner here to reminisce our positive memories dining here as students. Times have changed and prices have inevitably gone up: for an order of garlic bread and two orders of pasta -- the gnocci sausage and the penne bolognese, the total came out to be around $50 after tax and tip. Not the most budget friendly dinner for budget conscious students, but for a date night for the working class, it's about average. My gnocci was prepared well, the sausage in the dish was tasty, and my substituted pesto sauce was well-made, not overly oily. My wife's penne was a bit overcooked, and the sauce was fine, nothing too special. I'm happy to see how many people showed up during the time I was dining in the restaurant: there was a steady flow of patrons and definitely an air of sadness knowing that the place would be closing down soon. Wishing the best to the owners in their retirement.

Had a wonderfully quiet lunch with a colleague here! The restaurant was clean, breezy, and the staff was pleasant. I really enjoyed everything I had. While they didn't have a large selection of wine, they had basic reds and whites and the Pinot Grigio was delightful. We shared the bruschetta, a chicken Caesar salad, and fettuccine Alfredo. It was all just so good! Definitely worth stopping by.

Pasta Bene is affordable, has plenty of clean seating, and is right in the heart of Berkeley. The food came out quickly and was great. There is counter service only, so it's casual, but would still be a great place to go on a date or out with friends. The tiramisu was lacking a bit in coffee flavor, but it was still good. Both the pasta dishes were warm and felt fresh. While this restaurant isn't your perfect authentic Italian food, for the price point, it's very good.

Have been wanting to check this place out because of their lunch deal of $10. The $10 pasta only applies to 4 or 5 of their pastas on the menu. I got their penne bolognese and it was honestly a 9.7/10. The flavor was good, the sauce was very generous, and the price of $10 for their lunch deal was amazing. Definitely want to go back to try their other $10 pastas for lunch. I also got their chicken picatta pasta, which was not part of the lunch deal and I thought it wasn't as good as their penne bolognese. It was lemony, cheesy, and salty. 7.8/10. I also tried their fried calamari and I was a big fan of the batter. 6/10 The employees there are very friendly and nice. The restaurant itself is also a vibe. I always see people sitting outside when I past by and it seems so relaxing and a nice play to chat with someone.
